Reiki & Energy Healing

Reiki is a universal life force energy—a gentle, spiritually guided practice intended to encourage relaxation, calm, and a sense of connection. In Reiki tradition, this energy is understood to work for the recipient’s highest good, honoring the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki is regarded within this tradition as a high-vibration energy associated with love, compassion, and harmony. The principle that “Reiki can do no harm” expresses the practice’s gentle nature and intention to support well-being without force or manipulation.

Through training and attunement, Reiki practitioners learn to serve as channels for this energy. At the Master level, this practice deepens through further attunement, study, and experience. Reiki traditions also teach that energy is not limited by physical distance and that practitioners trained in distance Reiki can offer sessions across space and time. This may include an intention to support someone in another location or bring a sense of peace to feelings connected with past experiences or upcoming events.

Whether received in person or through a distance session, Reiki offers an invitation to pause, release tension, and reconnect with your inner stillness. Every experience is unique, and your comfort, consent, and personal choice remain central. Reiki is complementary and does not replace traditional medicine or mental health care.

Energy healing is a holistic, complementary approach to wellness that honors the connection between body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Rooted in traditions that recognize energy within and around us, these practices seek to encourage balance, relaxation, and a deeper connection with ourselves.

Energy healing encompasses many modalities, each with its own teachings, intentions, and methods. Reiki is one of these modalities. Other approaches may focus on chakra balancing, spiritual connection, or working with the subtle energy field. Within these traditions, attunement is a process intended to connect a practitioner with a particular energy practice.

As an Intuitive Healer and Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher, I have received attunements in more than 800 energy healing modalities. This extensive exploration informs my practice and allows me to draw from a broad range of spiritual approaches while remaining attentive to your individual needs, comfort, and intentions.

A session offers a supportive space to slow down, settle into the present moment, and reconnect with your inner calm. Depending on the approach, I may work with gentle touch, hands held above the body, focused intention, or guided meditation. Some people describe warmth, tingling, emotional release, or deep relaxation; others experience a quiet sense of rest. There is no required response, and every experience is unique.

At Timeless Energy Healing®, your comfort, consent, and personal choice guide every session. Energy healing is complementary and does not replace traditional medicine, mental health care, or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.

Reiki in Everyday Life

Reiki can offer gentle, complementary support through many of life’s experiences. These reflections explore how Reiki may create space for calm, connection, and individual well-being while honoring each person’s unique needs.

Reiki can become part of the rhythm of everyday life: a quiet moment before the day begins, a pause during a busy afternoon, or a peaceful transition into rest. Its principles invite us to meet ourselves and others with kindness, gratitude, and awareness, one moment at a time.

You do not have to solve everything at once. Begin by noticing where you are, how you feel, and what you are ready to release. A slow breath can create space to step out of a cycle of worry or self-criticism and choose your next thought or action with greater compassion.

  • Begin your morning with intention. Take a few quiet breaths and choose a quality to carry into your day, such as patience, gratitude, or kindness. If you are trained and attuned in Reiki, you may include self-Reiki as taught in your training.
  • Pause between activities. Before a conversation, after work, or during a demanding moment, feel your feet on the ground. Notice tension without judgment and allow yourself a moment to settle.
  • Bring awareness to ordinary moments. Listen fully, savor a meal, or notice the movement of the ocean and the beauty of nature. Let these moments remind you to return to the present.
  • Close your day with gratitude. Notice one thing that supported you today. Release the expectation that everything must be perfect, and make room for rest.

Mindful S.T.A.R.T. offers another way to practice this pause: stop, breathe, return to the present, release what you can, reframe with compassion, and move forward with gratitude. Small, consistent moments of care can become a meaningful part of your personal practice. Choose what feels comfortable for you; there is no required sensation or perfect way to begin.

What to Expect at Your First Session

Your Reiki session is time to pause, settle, and reconnect with yourself. You do not need previous experience or a particular belief—simply an openness to exploring what feels right for you.

Before we begin
We will talk about what brings you to the session, your intentions, and anything that would help you feel comfortable. You do not need to share personal experiences or details you prefer to keep private.

Getting comfortable
You remain fully clothed. Comfortable clothing is helpful. Sessions may take place lying down or seated, depending on your needs. We can discuss positioning, lighting, sound, and touch preferences before beginning.

During your session
I may place my hands lightly on your body, with your consent, or hold them above your body. Hands-off Reiki is available. You may experience warmth, tingling, a sense of calm, or simply quiet rest. Every Reiki experience is unique; there is no required sensation or response.

Your comfort and choice
You can ask questions, move, keep your eyes open, request an adjustment, or pause the session at any time. The session is guided by your comfort and ability.

After your session
Give yourself a moment before returning to your day. Drink water as you normally would, rest if needed, and notice how you feel without judging the experience. You are welcome to share reflections or ask questions.

Reiki is complementary and does not replace traditional medicine or licensed mental health care.

Yes. Reiki sessions take place fully clothed, and comfortable clothing is encouraged.
Does Reiki involve touch?
It can involve light touch, but only with your consent. Hands-off sessions are also available, and your preferences can change at any point.
Can I receive Reiki while seated?
Yes. We can adapt positioning to your comfort, mobility, and individual needs.
What if I do not feel anything?
There is no required response. Some people notice sensations or relaxation; others experience a quiet opportunity to rest. You do not need to make anything happen.
How does distance Reiki work?
Within Reiki tradition, practitioners trained in distance Reiki use distance symbols understood to enable Reiki to transcend time and space. Everyone has their own unique experience.

The Five Reiki Principles

Dr. Usui wrote The Five Reiki Principles. He realized that to be completely healthy, people needed to look after their psychological health along with their physical health. He asked his patients to follow these five principles for happiness.

The “just for today” encourages being present and fully experiencing the now. It also offers the opportunity to practice the principles as best you can today, knowing that tomorrow is another day and you can begin again.

  • Just for today, do not be angry.
  • Just for today, do not worry.
  • Just for today, be grateful.
  • Just for today, do your duties fully.
  • Just for today, be kind to others.

In Dr. Usui’s Reiki classes, students were given the five principles and asked to use these universal truths as their basic philosophy of life. He encouraged them to repeat the principles in the morning and evening with their hands in a prayer position.

Gyosei Poems

Dr. Usui admired the Gyosei Poems written by the Meiji Emperor as guides for personal and spiritual enhancement. From the collection of 100,000 poems, Dr. Usui chose 100 to share with his students to help their minds become “purified and well balanced.” A few of his choices follow:

  • “No matter how far you go, if you take the right path, no harm will come to you.”
  • “No hard feelings towards the Universe or criticism of other people would occur if we notice our own mistakes.”
  • “Things are apt to go in an unexpected way, what you have to mind is your own mind.”
